Added in 2016, the man pouting emoji was introduced as the male companion to the person pouting emoji and as a more realistic interpretation of the pouting face emoji. It depicts a young man or boy, usually with a downturned, frowning mouth and slightly furrowed eyebrows, giving an overall impression of mild annoyance, disinterest or disapproval. On some platforms, such as Samsung and Twitter, this emoji has less of a pouting expression and more of a surprised face. His eyebrows are sometimes raised and his mouth forms an O-shape. When using this version of the emoji, it is more likely to mean surprise or shock.
